ORLANDO CITY: NANI SURPASSES KAKA

Portuguese winger Luis Nani is now the outright recipient of the second all-time highest goalscorer for Orlando City SC in the MLS regular season after he scored the winning goal for Orlando City in the thrilling encounter with Atlanta United. Nani scored the winner three minutes from time as he helped his team to a 3-2 win over the team from Atlanta.

Nani was on level terms with Brazilian football icon Kaka on MLS regular season tally of 24 goals before his strike in the five-goal thriller with Atlanta United. Nani is now second on the list of the highest goalscorers, while former club skipper Kaka stays on the same number of goals as former forward Dom Dwyers.

Nani has been in very good form for Orlando City in the 2021 MLS season. He has seven goals this season thus taking him to 28 goals in all competitions for his team.

Orlando City captain Nani still has work to do when it comes to the assists record. He is one behind Kaka and Chris Mueller. Mueller and Kaka have 22 assists apiece.

Mueller is on course to get the assists record for himself. In addition, Mueller will get the record for the most appearances for himself with his next game for Orlando City. He is tied on 108 games alongside Cristian Higuita.

In a related development, defender Kyle Smith maintained his record of playing every minute in the MLS regular season this term when he played the whole game as his Orlando City side edged Atlanta United in a five-goal thriller. Smith is the only Orlando City player to achieve the feat. Also, Smith has made the most tackles in the MLS this season (29).

Nani and Orlando City are on course to make it into the playoffs. Orlando are in second spot on the Eastern Conference standings behind New England Revolution.
